Messed up, but in a good way.

The humor is really kind of weird, but I still wound up getting a couple of good laughs out of it. Your visual style is pretty interesting too. It kind of reminds me of Mike Judge's "Beavis and Butthead" cartoons. Over all, I'd say pretty darn good.

MiddleFingerRings responds:

Hah, thanks for that. I love Buttvis and Beavhead.

Pretty hot.

That was a pretty hot intro. I loved the special effects and the music just added to the style factory. Very slick and professional all around. Excellent work.

Albastter responds:

Thanks man!

'Twas O.K...

Link was very well animated much of the time, but Gannondorf was very stiff in comparison. When animating sprite action sequences, every character should have about the same level of flexibility and motion, or else it looks like an animated character duking it out with a cardboard cut-out. Unless that's the effect you're aiming for in the scene, you want to try to avoid that sort of thing by using more versatile sprite sheets or limiting characters with no real action animations to stationary attacks like magic, ranged weapons, etc.

dannydk6 responds:

Thanks for your input. Didn't realize how little leg room I had with Ganondorf's sprites until I actually started using him.

Interesting...

This is definitely an interesting concept. The characters are simple shapes, but the action goes just a step further. I give you major points for pulling it off as well as you did. When I first saw the main character, I wasn't expecting much, but I really did get into it by the end. I hope you continue to develop this idea!

TheMadWasp responds:

Thank-you very much on the feedback, I can understand that people don't seem to find the idea of a simple shape very interesting, so I'm glad to here something like this from someone who reviewed my work.

And yes, I will continue to do the same idea, maybe a bit better though.

Just one fly in the ointment...

The animation looks good, the song is good for an intro, but... The video constantly loops and the music keeps going...with the same track starting as soon as the beginning pops up again...while the first round of the song is still playing.

Next time, at the frame where you want the song to end, just add a new key frame with the song you're using and, in the properties menu, choose the "stop" option for that frame. That will keep the song from doing that.

Overturn900NG responds:

Sorry

For this, you rock.

The animation might not have been the shiniest, but the joke more than makes up for it. You've brought a great sense of humor to the whole Mac Vs. PC war and, best of all, you did it with Sonic. Great job!

RecD responds:

wow, thanks a lot! keep on checking back, there's a lot more to come!

Kind of disappointing...

For something that you say was 4 months of work, it's not all that great. Just a short sequence of animation followed by credits and a few minutes worth of a black screen and music doesn't say "4 months of hard work" to me. The animation you had was good, but the rest of the film...just didn't exist to be honest.

Frax responds:

Theres an easter egg about sonic in my flash, can you find it ?

It's funny because it's true

The funny thing about this video, the thing that makes it good, is that there are actually people who think that way. "Man, I don't have this overloaded uber-phone with features that completely exceed what I actually need in a cell phone. I feel emo I could die." Phones are for making calls, not playing games, checking your Myspace, and watching videos...

Sh0T-D0wN responds:

Lol.

Short, but funny

The art's nothing special, but the joke is absolutely classic!! The voice acting is laugh out loud funny too, especially the end, "NO RUNNIN' WITH Scissors!!" That's what makes this short off the chain. All you need to do is to slip in a a stop action script and a preloader to make it perfect. There are plenty of tutorials on the site, just go to collections and click on Flash Tutorials for info on action script and preloaders.

TomFalco responds:

Thanks for the info.. Im still learning so im hoping to have that mastered by my next upload. Thanks for the Review.

Very funny

At first I thought that the first date going wrong would have something with the guy saying something totally wrong, but you surprised me with the car accident. The conversation afterward was really "Mad TV"-ish in the comedy department...and I do like "Mad TV". The thing that really made it work, I think, was the child-like quality of the artwork, which kind of implies innocence but it was applied to a situation that was anything but innocent.

PurplePlanet responds:

Wow!
Really, now? I appreciate this comment. Yes, the quality of the artwork is indeed childlike, I may need to work on the style. ^^; Glad you liked it! And Mad-TV is pretty funny. I guess you can say I get my inspiration from that.

I am a constantly studying independent animation student with Oscar calibur ambitions. I love Japanese anime, sci-fi and fantasy books and movies, RPG's, Sonic the Hedgehog (comics, cartoons, games, etc.), and entertaining people.
